Security & privacy

This policy applies to the processing of personal data that Ajsee AB (“Ajsee” or “we”) collects about you, which may come from, for example, our websites (including third-party social networks), email, text messages, telephone, stores, registration forms, other contact with us, third parties and publicly available information.

We care about your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use and protect information about you and how you can exercise your rights. Please contact us if you have any questions or comments regarding this privacy policy.

References to law below mean the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable Swedish data protection legislation.

What information do we collect about you?

“Personal data” means information that relates to you and can identify you.

In this privacy policy, the terms “personal data” and “information about you” are used interchangeably.

You can usually use our website without providing us with any information other than technical data. On certain pages you will be asked to provide information, for example in connection with purchases and customer service matters, or if you sign up for our email newsletter. We may also use information about you obtained from other sources provided by third parties, such as marketing and sales companies.

The personal data we collect about you may include:

Personal and contact details – such as your name, address, email address and phone number, demographic information (such as date of birth, age, gender, geographic location, favourite products and interests) and, where clearly justified by the purpose of the processing or the need for secure identification, your personal identity number.

Financial information – information required to complete an order or that you use to make a purchase, such as payment or credit card details.

Technical information about your device or internet connection – such as IP address, cookies, geographic location and login details.

Information about your user behaviour – such as your search patterns and activity on the website, page response times and how you use our services.

User-generated information – content you voluntarily register, submit or publish, for example in connection with calls to customer service (which may be recorded), competitions and newsletter sign-ups, as well as content you share with us by uploading it to our website or on social networks (which you allow the network to share with us), such as text, video clips and photographs.

Information from other sources – Publicly available information or information from our partners that we obtain, for example, to keep your details up to date or to secure payments.

Purpose and legal basis

For our processing of your personal data to be lawful, there must be a legal basis for it, i.e. the processing is necessary to perform a contract with you or to comply with a legal obligation, it is based on a balancing of interests, or you have given your consent to a specific processing. Below are examples of the purposes for which we process your personal data and the legal basis for doing so.

We process your personal data for various purposes. Primarily, we process your data for the following purposes and on the following legal bases:

One of our main purposes for collecting personal data is to fulfil our obligations to you as a customer, such as processing and delivering your orders, invoicing, providing customer service and other commitments related to the purchase of our products. For example, we may need to answer your questions through customer service in connection with a purchase, send you product safety information, e.g. if one of our products needs to be recalled, and otherwise ensure compliance with legal requirements (such as the Swedish Bookkeeping Act).

Legal basis: Performance of a contract (terms of sale) or legal obligation

Another main purpose is to offer you great products and service through tailored services and to deliver better services with more relevant content. We use the information we collect to provide you with information about the products you request, but also to better understand our customers. To do this, we conduct customer surveys, among other things. We also analyse information about our customers’ demographic and geographic circumstances, interests and behaviour based on the information we receive from our website or other services, known as profiling. Customer and market analyses and processing for statistical purposes are carried out at an aggregated level and are not intended to identify individual customers.

Legal basis: Legitimate interest

We may use information about you to send newsletters by post, email, SMS/MMS or telephone, and to inform you about new products, campaigns, offers, competitions and other information about our products and activities that we believe may be of interest to you. We may therefore use your information for direct marketing, including profiling, provided that you have not objected to such processing. If you do not have, or have not had, a customer relationship with us during the past twelve months, we will only use your information for electronic direct marketing if you have given your consent. Your personal data may also be used for interest-based advertising online, by us or by the digital advertising networks we work with, which in some cases may be tailored to your interests based on information we have collected, known as profiling.

Direct marketing to existing customers
When you make a purchase from Ajsee, we collect your email address to handle your order and provide you with information about your purchase. Within our existing customer relationship, we may also use your email address to send information about our own similar products, news and offers, including automated follow-up and post-purchase emails. This is based on our legitimate interest in marketing our products to existing customers, provided that you have not objected to such processing. You always have the right to unsubscribe from marketing free of charge via the link in our emails or by contacting us.

You can object to our use of your personal data for direct marketing purposes at any time by contacting us as described under the heading Contact below, or directly in our electronic communications.

Legal basis: Legitimate interest or consent (unless otherwise expressly stated when your personal data is collected).

Our legitimate interest in the processing described above is to offer you a better shopping and customer experience and to provide you with personalised offers and other relevant information.

Information about cookies

We use cookies, web beacons and similar tracking technologies on our website and in our email communications.

Who do we share your information with?

We handle your personal data with the utmost care, and your information is only used by us and by selected third parties.

Third parties we engage to help us run our business (for example for customer surveys and mailings) are only permitted to use your personal data on our behalf and for the specific tasks they perform according to our instructions, acting as our data processors. They are obliged to keep your personal data confidential and secure. Where required by law, you have the right to receive a list of any data processors that process your personal data on our behalf.

In order to offer better services and for marketing purposes, we may also share your personal data with third parties, usually acting as independent data controllers, so that they can perform a service for us or for you, such as address updates, a postal or shipping company delivering products, insurance companies, banks/credit reference agencies or the digital advertising networks we work with.

In other specific cases, we may also disclose personal data, e.g. when we have reason to believe that the information is necessary to identify, contact or take legal action against someone who may have breached the website, or who has otherwise infringed or interfered with our rights or property, or the rights of our customers or other visitors.

Transfers of personal data to countries outside the EU/EEA require that the country in question has an agreement with the EU/EEA, is considered to have adequate data protection legislation, or that we have entered into an agreement with the third party obliging them to apply standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission for the protection of privacy. You can find a list of approved third countries and standard clauses on the European Commission’s website and on the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection’s website regarding transfers of data to third countries.

Your rights

In accordance with the law, you have the right to request information about the personal data we hold about you, after identifying yourself and clearly stating what information you wish to receive. Such a request must be made in writing, signed by you and sent to the address given under the heading Contact below. We will respond to your request as soon as possible and within one month. If we are unable to fulfil your request, we will let you know and explain why.

If you believe that the information about you is incorrect or incomplete, you have the right, in the manner and to the extent provided by law, to request that it be corrected. We will correct or update your information as quickly as reasonably possible.

You also have the right, in the manner provided by law, to request that your personal data be erased, to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw any consent you have given. You also have the right, as provided by law, to have the personal data you have provided to us transferred (data portability).

Please note that we may be required to retain necessary personal data in connection with erasure, withdrawal of consent or data portability in order to fulfil our legal or contractual obligations. We may also be permitted by law to retain certain personal data to meet our business needs.

You have the right to object to processing of your personal data that we carry out on the basis of a balancing of interests, including profiling. In that case, once you have specified which processing you object to, we must demonstrate that there are overriding legitimate interests. You also have the right to object at any time to the processing of your personal data for direct marketing purposes.

How long do we keep your personal data?

We only keep your personal data for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy policy, or for as long as required by law or contract. Your personal data is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer relevant for the purposes for which it was collected or is no longer required by law or contract.

What do we do to protect your information?

To prevent unauthorised access, use, alteration, destruction or disclosure, we have implemented appropriate and reasonable standards to protect and secure the information we process about you. These measures are designed to prevent unauthorised or unlawful processing of your information and accidental loss or destruction of, or damage to, that information. Among other things, Ajsee uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer), which means that your orders are encrypted.

Should a personal data breach be detected, it will be reported to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection and to you, as required by law.

We may update this privacy policy. If there are material changes to this privacy policy, we will notify you by placing a clear notice on the website or in another appropriate manner. We encourage you to read this privacy policy to stay informed about how we process your personal data.

Complaints and compensation

If you believe that your personal data has been handled incorrectly, please report this to us as soon as possible. You may also lodge a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection regarding our processing of personal data.

If you believe you have suffered damage because our processing of your personal data has violated the law, you may be entitled to compensation. In that case, you can claim compensation from us or bring an action in court.
